What we collect, why, how long we keep it, who else sees it, and how to tell us to stop.

What we collect, and why

If you contact us

The enquiry form asks for your name, company and email address, and whatever you choose to write in the message. We use it only to respond to your enquiry and, if it leads to work, to administer that engagement.

  • Lawful basis: legitimate interests — responding to a business enquiry you initiated. Where an engagement follows, performance of a contract.
  • Retention: enquiries that do not lead to work are deleted after [CONFIRM — suggest 24 months]. Records relating to an engagement are retained for [CONFIRM — typically 6–7 years for tax and professional-indemnity purposes].
  • Processor: the form is operated by Formspree, Inc. (United States), who receive and forward the submission on our behalf. Submissions are therefore transferred outside the UK. [CONFIRM — see the transfers section; the safeguard for this transfer is not yet evidenced]

Server logs

Our hosting provider records standard access logs, including IP address, timestamp, page requested and browser type. These are used for security and to keep the site running. Legal basis: legitimate interests in the security and availability of the service. Retention: [CONFIRM with hosting provider].

Cookies and similar technologies

This site does not set any cookies. We do not run analytics, advertising, remarketing or cross-site tracking. There is nothing for you to accept or decline, which is why you have not been shown a cookie banner.

Files needed to display the site — stylesheets, fonts and scripts — are loaded from the content delivery networks listed below. Loading a file necessarily reveals your IP address to whoever serves it, but those requests do not set cookies on this site and are not used to track you across other websites.

If we introduce analytics in future, it will be behind an explicit opt-in: nothing will be stored on your device unless you agree, this page will be updated first to name each cookie, its purpose and its duration, and withdrawing consent will be as easy as giving it.

Third parties and international transfers

The following organisations process data on our behalf or provide content used by this site. Some are based outside the UK, which makes those transfers restricted transfers under UK GDPR. Each is covered by an appropriate safeguard under Article 46 — Standard Contractual Clauses together with the UK International Data Transfer Addendum, or the UK Extension to the EU–US Data Privacy Framework where the recipient is certified. [CONFIRM — record which instrument applies to each recipient, and complete a Transfer Risk Assessment for each]

  • Google Ireland Limited / Google LLC (Ireland, United States) — the Google Fonts used for typography.
  • Formspree, Inc. (United States, hosted on AWS) — enquiry form handling. [CONFIRM — TRANSFER MECHANISM NOT YET EVIDENCED. Formspree's security page states it relies on Standard Contractual Clauses as a data processor, but its privacy policy (last updated April 2022) names no Article 46 transfer mechanism and refers to no Article 28 processor contract. A signed data processing agreement incorporating the SCCs and the UK Addendum should be obtained, or the form moved in-house.] Formspree holds SOC 2 Type II certification.
  • Cloudflare, Inc. (United States) — content delivery and security in front of the site.
  • [CONFIRM — hosting provider name and location] — website hosting.
  • cdnjs / jsDelivr — public content delivery networks serving stylesheets and scripts. Your IP address is visible to them as a consequence of loading those files.

We do not sell personal data, and we do not share it with anyone for their own marketing.

Your rights

Under UK GDPR you have the right to:

  • ask what personal data we hold about you, and receive a copy;
  • have inaccurate data corrected;
  • ask us to erase data where there is no continuing reason to keep it;
  • restrict or object to processing carried out on the basis of legitimate interests;
  • receive data you provided in a portable format;
  • withdraw consent at any time, without affecting processing carried out before you did.

To exercise any of these, email info@empowermentqe.com. We will respond within one month.

If you are not satisfied with our response you may complain to the Information Commissioner's Office — ico.org.uk/make-a-complaint or 0303 123 1113.

Changes to this notice

We will update this page when our processing changes. The date at the top shows when it was last revised.
